Liam Wood and Team SA Arrive in Peru for the ISA World Games

6th of December 2025 – Liam Wood and Team SA Arrive in Peru for the ISA World Games

Opening Ceremony at the 2025 ISA World Junior Challenge

An unforgettable moment as Liam Wood walked in with the South African team at the opening ceremony of the ISA World Junior Surfing Championship in Peru. The energy was electric, the pride unmatched, and the stoke levels through the roof. Standing shoulder to shoulder with the world’s greatest junior surfers was a truly special experience for the entire squad.

The team fought hard against some of the biggest names lighting up social media and the global rankings. Several of our surfers competed at the highest level, with Benny Esterhazy from Camps Bay — and part of the Cape Town Surfing team — earning a commendable quarterfinal finish. Emily Jenkinson delivered another standout performance, while Kai Stubbs and many others showed incredible determination and class throughout the event.

Representing the country under Surfing South Africa at an International Surfing Association world event is an honour few get to experience. What an extraordinary journey for the team.

Liam is excited to bring all the wisdom, knowledge, and world-class energy gained in Peru back home to elevate his coaching programmes and inspire the next generation of surfers.
